Vienna Center for Advanced Studies – Open call for fellowships
The University of Vienna’s Center for Advanced Studies (ViCAS) is dedicated to advancing
innovative research in all fields, and encouraging dialogue that bridges academic disciplines,
countries, and intellectual traditions. ViCAS offers space for deep, undisturbed research in one
of Europe’s most stimulating cities.
Each academic year, ViCAS welcomes advanced and mid-career fellows from around the world and
across all academic disciplines. Selected for their outstanding scholarly achievements and
intellectual promise, fellows join a dynamic community of researchers committed to advancing
knowledge through dialogue, collaboration, and independent inquiry.
Open Call: ViCAS Fellowships for 2027-2028 (application ends 28 August 2026)
- Career stages: Advanced and Mid-career fellowships
- Residencies starting: 1 October 2027 (4 or 9 months) or 1 March 2028 (4 months)
- Financial support: monthly salary including accommodation allowance and child
allowance (if applicable) or financial contribution to the home institute (see guidelines) - Application ends: Friday, 28 August 2026, at 14:00 Vienna Time (CEST).
