The call for applications for participation in the ULAM NAWA Programme
The Programme aims at increasing the internationalisation of Polish universities and scientific Institutions by inviting outstanding researchers from abroad— including Polish scientists working permanently abroad—and employing them full‑time for a period from 6 to 24 months.
Invited scientists will strengthen the scientific potential of the host institution and become involved in:
- conducting scientific research,
- postdoctoral fellowships,
- preparing scientific publications,
- supporting grant applications,
- teaching activities (as a complementary activity).
Funding under the Programme includes remuneration for the Principal Investigator and for the Inviting Person.
As part of the Project, the employing Institution is required, among other obligations, conclude a full-time employment contract with the Principal Investigator and ensure that the Principal Investigator will reside in Poland during the implementation of the Project (the centre of the Principal Investigator’s personal or economic interests will be Poland).
In the 2026 edition—unlike in previous calls—the application is submitted by the Inviting Institution, which also receives the funding for employing the Principal Investigator.
The NAWA call for applications will be open until 15 May 2026, 3:00:00 p.m., according to the official time in Poland. Applications must be submitted via the NAWA online system: https://programs.nawa.gov.pl
The application must be completed in English. Applications prepared in Polish will be disregarded. The language of the required attachments is specified in point 2.9 of the Call.
The Programme is open to all fields of science. Representatives of arts are eligible, provided that the activities planned in the Project are of scientific nature.

Units of the University of Warsaw interested in participating are kindly asked to send the following documents to IRO:
- a completed form for consent to participate in the project, signed by the Dean;
- A printout of the prepared NAWA application or, if the application is not yet ready, the Scientist’s academic CV and project description (after submission in NAWA’s system, the final version must be sent to IRO);
- An Application for granting Power of Attorney of the UW Rector, signed by the Dean, authorizing a UW employee to submit the application in the NAWA electronic system;
- A completed and initialed by the Dean/Vice-Dean Power of Atorney, to be signed by the Rector;
- a completed and signed form with information about inviting the Principal Investigator, issued by the Inviting person.
The above documents should be sent electronically to bwz.nabory.projekty@uw.edu.pl no later than 7 working days before the planned submission of the application to NAWA.
