Global Universities Presidents & Leaders Summit, Hong Kong, China – competition for UW students/docotral students

On 27-28 October 2026, the Hong Kong Association of External Relationships, with the support of the University Grants Committee, will host the Global Universities Presidents and Leaders Summit.

Rectors and presidents and representatives of the student community from 50 globally renowned universities have been invited to attend the event. The theme of the summit is „Globalisation of Knowledge — how to run university education to meet the speedy global development and community need”.

Date and length of stay: 27-28 October 2026 + travel

Number of places: 1

Who can apply: students of second cycle programmes, students of 4th and 5th year of long 5-year cycle programmes / doctoral students

Eligible units/disciplines: students/doctoral students with knowledge in one of the main topics of the summit:

  1. Globalisation of Knowledge and Human Sustainability;
  2. Ethics, Values, and Social Responsibility of AI in High Tech Innovation;
  3. Opportunities for International Education and Public-Private Industry Collaboration in Hong Kong’s Northern Metropolitan University Town;
  4. Fostering Synergy Between Policy, Entrepreneurship, Research, Investment, and Education for Sustainable Economic Growth;
  5. Demographic Changes and Future Skills Development: Building Human Capital for Industry Readiness;
  6. Big Data Era: Opportunities and Challenges – Environmental Sustainability, Green Finance, Space Economy, Biomedical Innovation, Art and Creative Industries;
  7. Who Will be Teaching Whom? The Future of University-Industry-Government Collaboration;
  8. The Role of Private Universities in Serving Community Needs and Driving Innovation;
  9. Corporate Social Responsibility in Higher Education: Curriculum Design and Talent Development for Industry Needs;
  10. Innovative Technology Governance in Universities: Protecting Intellectual Property, Law Frameworks, and Fostering Industry Collaboration and Practice;
  11. Financial Technologies and Digital Banking: The Role of Universities in Cultivating Fintech Talent;
  12. Investment Model in Higher Education: Public-Private Partnerships for Innovation Ecosystems;
  13. Silver Hair Era: Workforce Transition Reskilling and Upskilling;
  14. Leveraging Industry Data for Academic Research and Entrepreneur Commercial Applications.

Required documents:

  1. Consent Form, signed by Head of the Educational Unit (EUH) or Mobility Coordinator (in the case of students) or Director of the Doctoral School (in the case of doctoral students).
  2. Students: certificate of grade average from the entire period of study, issued by the Student’s Office at the unit (minimum 4,5);
    Doctoral students: supervisor’s opinion;
  3. Motivation letter justifying the participation in the event;
  4. Curriculum Vitae in English with focus on extraordinary academic achievements;
  5. Certificate/proof of the language skills: English – at least B2.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from Hong Kong, i.e. until at least 29 April 2027. UW must provide the organisers with their passport details by 7 August 2026.

Evaluation criteria:

  1. Grade average / supervisor’s opinion – 0-3 points;
  2. Motivation to participate in the event – 0-3 points;
  3. Extraordinary academic achievements – 0-2 points;
  4. English language proficiency – at least B2 – 0-2 points;

The evaluation committee will be composed by five members – three from International Relations Office, one each from UW Students’ Council and PhD Students’ Union. The committee will be chaired by the Chair of the Rector’s Committee for the Evaluation of Scholarship and Project Applications and Short-Term Mobility for the 2024-2028 term.

Financial conditions:

  • Students / PhD students are exempt from the participation fee.
  • The costs of travel (economy class return flight ticket) and accommodation (up to 3 room nights and in shared room arrangement) are covered by the organiser.

Remarks:

  • Candidates may, at any time, be asked to show original documents providing achievements and received awards.
  • Additional information will be sent to nominated candidates.

Application deadline:  Friday 31 July 2026, until   9:00   (correction of 31 July 2026) 12:00 am Warsaw time zone.Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Application (one e-mail containing all required documents; subject: Global Universities Presidents & Leaders Summit) shall be sent to the email address bwz.nabory.wymiana@uw.edu.pl from the candidate’s university email address in accordance with § 2, paragraphs 4 and 5 of the Regulations on the creation, deactivation and use of e-mail of the University of Warsaw, constituting an annex to Ordinance No. 39 of the Rector of the University of Warsaw of 13 April 2026. Applications sent from other addresses will not be considered in accordance with § 2, paragraph 6 of the aforementioned Regulations.
