Accommodation
University Accommodation
As an exchange student, you can apply for accommodation at the University of Warsaw for the whole period of your stay (one or two semesters). Each year, the UW authorities reserve a special pool places dedicated to exchange students, and the number as well as the dormitories assigned for this purpose are decided annually. Usually, the places are offered in double rooms (to be shared with another student).
How to apply?
The application for accommodation is included in the general application for studies submitted through the IRK platform.
Indicate in the IRK system that you wish to apply for accommodation and wait for an email from the International Relations Office. A few weeks before the start of the semester you will receive information on whether you have been assigned a place in one of the dormitories.
How are places assigned?
We have limited number of places, therefore we offer accommodation based on „first comes-first served” basis (in the order that the applications on IRK platform are submitted = the sooner you submit your complete application, the higher you are on our candidate list). We try our best to find accommodation for all interested students close. However, usuallt the number of applicants is higher than places we can offer. If you are not assigned a place in the first round, you will be placed on the waiting list.
Accommodation offer
If you receive an accommodation offer from us, you have to send us accommodation form within the deadline indicated. Then we will inform you about further steps.
If you are not interested in a place in dormitory anymore, let us know, so that we can contact the next student from the waiting list and offer your room to someone else.
Erasmus Trainees/Students of other universities
The International Relations Office offers accommodation exclusively for short-term incoming international students. Unfortunately, we cannot give places in the dormitory to full-time international students, non-UW students or students coming to UW for a traineeship. If you are one of them, please contact Student Welfare and Support Office UW.
Private Accommodation
While looking for accommodation you can browse through the accommodation platform of the Students’ Union or ESN UW Accommodation. The University of Warsaw does not take any responisbility for the adverts posted there.
Every student staying in a private flat should sign a Tenancy Agreement with the owner of the flat. Please be cautious. It is not recommended to pay before signing a Tenancy Agreement and/or seeing the flat!
Our office offers a guide on how to find accommodation in Warsaw. It includes links, tips, contract templates and advice from the Legal Clinic at our Faculty of Law and Administration. Once you are accepted at IRK platform, please contact us about the details – we will send you the guide.
