Na przystąpienie do projektu musi wyrazić zgodę prawny przedstawiciel uczelni tj. prorektor ds. współpracy i spraw pracowniczych (zob. poniżej pkt 6).
W związku z tym należy wypełnić wniosek o wyrażenie zgody na uczestnictwo w projekcie.
Wniosek o wyrażenie zgody na uczestnictwo w projekcie i posiadaną dokumentację dotyczącą projektu należy przekazać do Biura Współpracy z Zagranicą w formie skanu.

Please briefly present the partner organisation = University od Warsaw (propozycja BWZ)

The University of Warsaw (UW), founded in 1816, is Poland’s largest and finest University; a public higher education institution, research-oriented and mobility friendly. From its beginning, UW has played a major role in the intellectual, political, economic, social and cultural life of Poland. According to international rankings, it also is the best university in Poland and one of the leading ones in this region of Europe. In addition, UW holds very good positions in comparative evaluations of the quality of education, in particular study programmes, such as the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Ranking and Eduniversal Best Masters and MBA Worldwide. 27 programmes provided by the UW have been listed in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023. 10 subjects run by the UW were ranked in the Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects 2022 (Physics was ranked 51-75 worldwide).UW belongs to the 3% top universities across the world. At QS World University Rankings 2023 UW  took 284th place (24 positions higher than the year before), 119th in Europe and st in Poland. UW occupies the first place in the national academic rankings. Its faculties hold national and international accreditations, such as EQUIS, AMBA, AASBI; it has created 24 spin-off companies. UW was awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and the HR Excellence in Research title by the European Commission. The UW community comprised 36311 students and 1903 doctoral candidates, including 3558 foreigners. Diplomas were awarded to 8120 graduates. UW employs 8000 people, including 4054 academic teachers (more than 520 professors), has 36300 students, 1900 doctoral candidates, 3600 international students and doctoral candidates. UW is a member of the 4EU+ European University Alliance which brings together eight, research-intensive universities: Charles University, Heidelberg University, Sorbonne University, University of Copenhagen, University of Milan, University of Geneva and Paris-Panthéon-Assas University. The consortium aims to develop a new quality of cooperation in research, innovation, education and services and to establish an appropriate platform ensuring free circulation of students, faculty, staff, ideas and sharing of infrastructures. UW is a member of almost 100 international research networks, including: Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion (IMISCOE), Research Network, Copernicus Alliance and UNEP – Global Universities Partnership on Environment and Sustainability (GUPES).

UW participates in the “Excellence initiative – research university (2020-2026), organized by the Polish Ministry of Education and Science and aims to develop research in five priority areas: (1) Science for the Planet, (2) Beyond Micro and Macro Worlds,(3) The Challenge of Petabytes, (4) The Humanities. (5) Responding to Global Challenges. The UW encompasses 25 faculties and over 30 independent teaching and research units; offers 44 English-language programmes. The UW cooperates with over 1000 international and domestic partners. UW is the most active and successful university in Poland in terms of participation in European Union programs which is demonstrated by the following selected data:

  1. works together with over 350 international entities from 76 countries under direct bilateral cooperation agreements (in 2022, 73 agreements were concluded or renewed).
  2. 2182 scholarship holders took part in the Erasmus+ mobility programme in the academic year 2021/2022.
  3. 2 ongoing projects with third countries not associated to the Programme Erasmus+ including partners from Western Balkans, Middle East, Latin America.
  4. approx. 21 ongoing Strategic Partnerships & Capacity Building projects since 2019.
  5. within Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees: NOHA+, MERGED.

  8. within Horizon 2020: participation in the implementation of 64 co-financed projects; coordination of 13 co-financed projects; over EUR 25 million of funding received.
  9. 32 European Research Council (ERC) grants received in a wide range of areas: algorithms, anthropology, archaeology, astronomy, cryptography, cultural sciences, linguistics, logic, mathemathical physics, sociology.
